In order to help, one must be in a state of "inner peace" - one of the main rules for everyone, and especially for those who work with the military. It was from this that the first block of training "The role of communities and state administration bodies in building a people-friendly state" at the Yarmiz Center began.
One of the goals of the training - to train representatives of local self-government bodies, social workers, teachers and specialists of helping professions in the rules and techniques of trauma-informed communication during military operations.
After all, the duty of every member of the community to the defenders is to create an atmosphere of benevolence, care, decent conditions for their rehabilitation and reintegration, and to support the families of veterans.
Training presenter Olga Kuharuk - a psychologist, co-author of the program "Cultural and psychological competence of a psychologist accompanying military personnel", shared how the experiences of war and stress affect communication and conflict of all participants in communication, what we can and cannot influence in communication with people, who are going through a traumatic experience, the rules of conversation with civilians and military personnel in different emotional states, stabilization and self-help techniques.
"Local self-government bodies, local veterans' policy units, TsNPy, PFU units and territorial communities are the first front offices that meet war veterans." - As noted by Ruslan Prykhodko, director of the Department of Social Protection of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine: "Every employee of these structures and a veteran's assistant must be professionally trained and knowledgeable in order to clearly and easily explain to veterans their rights, find out their needs and, as soon as possible, issue and to provide the entire package of social support."
It was dedicated to this the second training "Inclusiveness and reintegration of veterans: the future of local development" during which Tetyana Goncharenko talked about various types of interaction with public organizations for the implementation of projects in the interests of veterans and their family members.
Participants received tools and learned in practice:
- management of social partnership projects;
– cross-sectoral cooperation on the parallel between government – public initiatives – social business;
- implementation of monitoring tools;
– strategic, operational planning;
- creating a fundraising strategy for socially significant projects;
- cooperation of state authorities and veteran public organizations.
"Inclusive city of the future: rehabilitation of veterans through effective partnerships". During this block, the participants not only considered examples of grant applications for funding, but also jointly developed draft versions of 5 projects for defenders and their family members.
At the same time, the participants of the training analyzed the models of cooperation with public organizations and the mechanisms of interaction. They talked about the motivation of business in supporting such projects and how business can directly support veteran communities. For example, to promote employment or the development of a veteran's business.
The series of trainings took place within the framework of the project "Formation of a system of psychological support for defenders and their families as a guarantee of the stability of communities" with the support of the European Union and the International Renaissance Fund within the framework of the joint initiative "European Renaissance of Ukraine".
