On November 13-14, the Adaptation and Rehabilitation Center for ATO and JFO Participants hosted the presentation and launch of the project “Leading Family - values to pass on to generations”, which is the family entrepreneurship training, supported by the British Embassy!
The meeting was opened by Valentyna Tarasenko, the Project Manager. In her speech, she noted that the goal of the project is the holistic development of veteran families and IDPs with a purpose of their fulfillment in society, promoting their social, psychological and economic integration by overcoming family barriers and building a solid family team and family business.

Ruslan Prykhodko, a Representative of the Ministry of Veterans' Affairs, made a welcoming speech to the participating families. Mr. Prykhodko hopes that all participants of the project will be able to get the necessary knowledge and all necessary legal assistance to start their own family business. He also said that the Ministry is currently developing a Strategy for the development of entrepreneurial initiatives among veterans.
All the participants listened to the official letter of congratulations from the British Embassy in Ukraine, where the Embassy expressed its confidence that the British Embassy's Small Projects Program supports a very important initiative of the YARMIZ Center and provides an opportunity for many veteran families from all over Ukraine to start their own businesses.
The four-month online course will include:
13 modules of family business training;
psychological support course;
a course of lectures on gender literacy and building a strategy for achieving work-life and work-family balance; a course of lectures on sustainable development and adaptation of family businesses to environmentally friendly ones.
The project will result in at least 20 family business projects that will be presented to potential investors and sponsors in March at a graduation ceremony in Kyiv.
It was agreed on before the event that the best families participating in the “Leading Family - values to pass on to generations” project will receive mentoring support from the Association of ATO Veteran Entrepreneurs and other leading businessmen of Ukraine, which was also announced during today's motivational meeting.
For two days, the participants got acquainted with the teachers, received the first knowledge, and even managed to make friends with each other. The first introductory lecture – acquaintance with the course program – was given by Tetiana Izmailova and Serhii Hvozdiov. The teachers managed to create a friendly and warm atmosphere and immediately won the love of their future students.

The family team building for families was conducted by Maryna Syrytsia, the leading psychologist of the YARMIZ Center. The subtleties of the couple relationship and possible pitfalls of the family business were analyzed in detail.
An interesting lecture on gender literacy was given by Marianna Tkalych, Doctor of Psychology, Psychologist. She explained what gender culture and gender equality are and what requirements society has for each gender today. Despite the significant achievements that we have in our society regarding gender equality, we must pay attention to the fact that discrimination still exists, we must continue to work to overcome manifestations of discrimination, including on the grounds of sex. It is necessary to provide equal opportunities for women and men in all spheres of human life.

At the painting workshop led by Halyna Sernivka, a veteran member of the YARMIZ team, participants painted a pomegranate with oil paints on the canvas - a symbol of marriage, fertility, recovery, success and love. For three hours, the couples were helping each other by using brushes, painting knives, even their fingers at certain points, and created their own work of art, which they immediately packed in a box and took back to their homes. And although they were painting for the first time, it was a success. Participants agreed that with a good leader you can do anything, even create a masterpiece. And we are confident that our families will turn their business models into masterpieces. After all, they have the best leaders - themselves!
Two days flew by in an instant. Most importantly, we had time to get to know all of the participating families and hear personally about their dreams, expectations from participating in the project, and their preferred requirements for studying materials. So, the “Leading Family - values to pass on to generations” has officially begun! We wish you success!
