Project "Language of Support"

The "Language of Support" project provides for:
  • development of a training program for specialists of administrative service centers (ASCs) and veteran support specialists;
  • brochure development "The conversation that opens the door: how a first-line specialist can support referrals to specialists", which contains information about the rules for trauma-informed referral for professional help;
  • poster development "BEING TOGETHER AGAIN: Peculiarities of Relationships After Returning from War", which is designed to draw the attention of veterans' families to general information about communicating with a partner during and after service. The poster contains a QR code that redirects to a brochure with more detailed advice;
  • conducting 5 one-day trainings on trauma-sensitive communication for specialists from administrative service centers in the Kyiv region who work with veterans and their family members;
  • conducting 4 three-day trainings on trauma-sensitive communication for specialists supporting veterans and demobilized persons in the Kyiv region.

The purpose of this project – raising awareness among the population, target group (veterans, their family members) and front-line specialists about the impact of military experience on the mental state of those who experience it; strengthening the communication skills of all communication participants in the field of “veterans - families - professionals of supporting professions - communities”; promoting the principles of trauma-informed communication and the principles of the salutogenic approach.

The development of materials and trainings are being carried out with the support of Switzerland. Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine and the Ukrainian-Swiss project Mental health for Ukraine.
