The training of commanders and sergeants from the separate presidential brigade named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, under the program "Ensuring the mental health of military personnel" as part of the project "Formation of a system of psychological support for defenders and their families as a guarantee of community stability" has started.
It is extremely important that the psychological support of military personnel begins already during their service. That is why the first module of the educational process was dedicated to the topic "Role and importance of psychological support during and after service".
Maryna Syrytsia and Olga Kuharuk, psychological trainers of the "Yarmiz" Center, talked about how the worldviews of military personnel change during combat operations, philosophy of life, interpersonal relationships, and the combat mind, based on the model of Steven Porges' Polyvagal Theory.
All this forms the basis of resilience, recovery and is the basis for one's own motivation for change. After all, one of the key goals of the project is to contribute to the formation of a culture of awareness and a systematic approach to issues of psychological support during service with a focus on resilience and post-experience growth.
After the theoretical part, commanders and sergeants will practice practical exercises. The main task of the first meeting was getting to know yourself and your bodily reactions. During the first module, psychologist-trainers used awareness techniques - mindfulness for the military, bodily techniques of self-regulation and stress management.
The project is being implemented with the support of the European Union and the "Renaissance" International Fund within the framework of the joint initiative "European Renaissance of Ukraine".
